After the population is restored following Thanos' click, a group of ancient aliens known as the Eternals, who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years, are forced to emerge from hiding to confront their age-old foes, the Deviants. These immortal beings, including Ajak, Sersi, Ikaris, Kingo, Sprite, Phastos, Makkari, Druig, Gilgamesh, and Thena, were sent to Earth in 5000 BC by a Celestial named Arishem to eliminate the Deviants, shaping human history and civilizations along the way. However, in 1521, they split over their involvement with humanity, spending the next five centuries in isolation until a new threat emerges.
