A lot of spiritual insight can be gleaned as we read classic literature, but please understand that all these insights are things I thought while reading. This is in no way an analysis of the book as far as what the author was thinking or what he wanted the reader to take away from the story. I once had a reader make a comment to me about my own thoughts when I was writing one of my novels. Whatever she thought I was thinking while writing had actually never occurred to me. That was when the light came on in my mind of why I didn't care for analyzing works of literature. When I teach my students, I want to know what they got out of a specific work. Sometimes they are very insightful, and we have the best conversations.

Many of these works in this series are not blatantly Christian, but that doesn't mean Christ or an aspect of the Christian life is completely missing. In fact, it's the opposite. So, read one chapter of the work and then read the chapter I've written here.
